Kenong Rimba Park in Pahang is similar to Taman Negara<\/a> and Endau Rompin State Park, contains one of the oldest rainforest in the world, approximately more than 100 million years. There are a lot to explore in the park, ranging from rivers, trekking, caving and bird watching and much more. It covers about 128 square kilometers in Pahang State.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Overview<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Its beauty is beyond the green lush rainforest that one can see. Situated near the Valley of Kenong River, no wonder it houses many of the beautiful cascading waterfalls in Malaysia. No surprise that it’s a popular site for camping and swimming. Apart from that, the rich natural habitats also attract many nature lovers to the park. Insect studying, bird watching and jungle tracking are among the most popular activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course it also has one of the best limestone caves for the caving enthusiast and bat lovers. The most striking one is the Gua Batu Tinggi which resembles a dug-out boat. The Kenong River passes through this cave and it’s believed that once upon a time the King’s messenger of Pekan was turn into a stone while passing through the cave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Transport<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Kenong Rimba Park is located near the Kuala Lipis Town. Coming from Kuala Lumpur is about 180km and 300km from Kita Bahru. You can access to Kuala Lipis via the Karak highway from both state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can also access via railway links via the Lipis Railway Station located 3 hours from Kuala Lumpur, and get off at Batu 9 station. Then take a 5 mins walk to Sungai Jelai Jetty and take a 20 minutes boat ride to Tanjung Kiara Jetty which will leads into the park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kenong Rimba Park is dominated by lowland forests and riverine vegetation. Epiphytic vegetation such as ferns & wild orchids are abundant here, also lofty tualang tree (kompassia excelsa). Also in abundance is the gigantic ficus tree or pokok ara, which is popularly featured in many local folklore,proverbs and rhymes. A profusion of pink and white water lilies floating on scattered water bodies around the park adds to the enchantment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wildlife<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elephants, tapirs, leopards and deers are found in small numbers. Smaller mammals such as porcupines, mousedeers, flying foxes, and river otters are easier to notice along the jungle trails. However, like in any other parts of the Tropical Rain Forest, these animals are easier heard than sighted, all due to the very dense vegetations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
